Blog Post About Summer 2020
The storms didn't stop.
When we left Memphis to drive to Nashville, we still had a lot of rain.
A LOT!

Welcome to Nashville, Kylie! π

We were privileged to be able to stay at the parents' house of a young lady we knew from our time in Africa.
After a good night's rest, Doug and I got up the next morning to help Kylie get the things she needed to check into her apartment. Caleb and Karis stayed at the house so they could get some school done, and Keira went to the zoo with the children of the young lady (now married) we knew from our time in Africa.
The apartment looked pretty clean at first :)
We had never met these girls before and we didn't know anything about them, but we quickly learned one of them liked Vienna sausages (see cabinet), two of them came with jars of Nutella, one of them really liked microwave mac & cheese, and they all liked junk food a little more than Kylie.
Kylie has the side closet to the window.
Roommates can be an interesting situation.
Different beliefs, different hobbies, different schedules-kept can cause tension.
This is the room after we dropped off all of Kylie's stuff.
We went to pick up Karis and Caleb so Karis could help Kylie decorate her room (even though they were not allowed to put anything on the walls).
This is the room after both girls got their beds made.
After an "interesting" start, here's how it all unfolded.
One girl liked video games more than going to class, so she didn't come back for the third semester.
One girl (Kylie's roommate) preferred to stay with her boyfriend in another town and drive in for class, so she only spent two nights a week at the apartment.
So it ended up being Kylie in one room and another girl in the other for most of the time, which worked out well.

After the zoo and swimming, we picked up Keira to go out for dinner.
Man! That was a tough dinner. I knew that after we ate and said goodbye, Kylie would drive off by herself to go sleep in a new place away from us.
She and I kind of both had a breakdown near the restaurant bathrooms and cried on each other's shoulders and then I said a prayer over her.
I'm so thankful for the strength God's gives us at times like that.
