Eight is Great

Blog Post from Fall 2020

Keira woke up to My Little Pony birthday decorations.

She loves the Ponies, and it was so fun to be in America and find the decor. We have since brought them back with us to use again this year :)

In addition to My Little Pony, she loves unicorns, so we combined the two.

Too bad I didn't get one of Doug wearing "the horn."

We face timed Kylie so she could be a part of the gift-opening.

After ballet, Keira put on her Rainbow Dash pony ears, turned on the ear-lights and ate Chick-fil-a.

Then she got on her Star Wars pajamas to see her cookie cake for the first time.

I think she liked it!

I'm glad she held onto her ears :)

Here are snaps from birthdays 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7

Happy birthday, Keira (a year late).  We're about to celebrate #9! 😀

Big Keira Six

We had a birthday to celebrate soon after Kylie's knee injury.

Seven months ago, today.

I've never been much of a decorator for parties (or anything else for that matter), but Keira really wanted a "unicorn" birthday, so I took my oldest daughter's advice and went to Pinterest.

Kylie made her a beautiful card and we also added to the decor a wooden, carved unicorn that Doug's father made for her last summer.

I went to the store and bought paper and stickers to create this.

And this.

Some online printables helped with this.

(In case you are wondering, the white typing paper behind all of these designs covers up unused air vents that are not too pretty to look at year-round.)

The banners were free printables, but I free-handed the unicorn heads and thought they turned out pretty good.

We had a pretty happy girl when she woke up on, and since it was a Friday, she didn't have school, which made it even more special!

After a dinner out for chicken strips and french fries, we came home to a giant cookie her sisters made.

Keira gets a little nervous around birthdays.  She doesn't like "getting older" for some reason.  Every year since she turned 4, she has said, "I'll let you know if I decide to turn ____."

She loved her 6th birthday, but shortly after, as if right on cue, she said, "Mom, is it okay if I don't turn 7?  I'll let you know if I change my mind."

Mermaids and Unicorns

Note:  This blog was supposed to post before the previous one.  Sorry about the order confusion.

Keira turned 5 in October.  We had a small celebration for her in the morning before school, and then when we picked her up, we took her to her favorite place here for chicken...KFC :)

Later that night, our language helper and his family brought her a cake that said, "Happy Birthday I Baby."  He calls her "I Baby" because when we first visited his house, he had the TV station "I Baby" on for his young son.  It teaches songs, rhymes, ABC's, and numbers all in English.  Since Keira was so fond of it, he's been calling her that for two years.

She loves swimming, Minecraft, ballet, mermaids and unicorns.

Here are two pictures of unicorns she drew.

 Here's a mermaid.

And thanks to one of her grandmothers, she can even BE a unicorn.

She even gets creative with other things...

After picture taken after ballet class.

Another family was celebrating one of their birthdays the day after hers, and they added candles to their cake for Keira to join in.

Happy 5th birthday, Keira!
Happy birthday, MOM!
